Connect a USB or MIDI cable to your keyboard. Your Yamaha keyboard may have different USB ports depending on the model. There are four types of audio-out ports you are likely to find on your keyboard. USB audio and MIDI: A USB audio and MIDI port is capable of sending both audio and MIDI data. You can connect to these ports using a USB A-to-B cable. Download the MIDI drivers on your computer. Once you have connected your keyboard to the computer, switch on the keyboard. Some models also need to be put in PC or MIDI port depending upon the type of ports you use for connecting. Now for recording the tunes by using MIDI data, you will need to install MIDI drivers on your PC. I have 2 ypg-625's, both with malfunctioning displays. Yamaha YPG - 635 for MAC. I installed the driver, but audio-MIDI setup doesn't recognize the device.

If that is the case then I would agree with you that Yamaha is being lazy about giving Mac users some compatibility out of the box.
When someone asked, we could tell them, 'Garbage in, garbage out. I am hopeful about this fix, and I will let you know if I have success.
