- Browse your conversation history. To see a complete listing of your incoming and outgoing instant messages and meetings, including ones you might have missed: Open Skype for Business, and, above the search box, click the Conversations tab. All your conversations appear in chronological order, with the most recent at the top.
- Then one day in Outlook I noticed the Missed Conversations view in Outlook: Its a Search View and it was already active for me, but look – it also says one conversation unread. So I scrolled down the list of conversations in Outlook, found the unread one and the issue went away in Skype for Business within seconds.
Regardless of platform, Skype keeps you completely in the loop at all times with push notifications. That means Microsoft's recent introduction of email notifications for missed calls and messages is practically an overkill. In short, they are mostly useless.
That’s not to say that there aren’t some out there who’ll like the feature. It's perfect if you dislike push notifications or prefer to sign out of Skype after using it. But for those of us who don’t want the extra clutter in our inboxes, turning off Skype's email notifications can be mostly convenient.
But rather than configuring your email client to mark the Skype notifications as spam, let's see how you can turn them off right at the source.

One of the few things great about Skype is its ability to manage your notifications. And the same goes for email notifications as well.
Strange and annoying behaviour in Skype for Business. I have started a conversation with another user and still have that conversation window open - however I don't get their reply in the Skype conversation window but instead get a 'Missed Conversation' email in Outlook. Missed conversation emails should not be sent if you didn't miss the conversation. When working in a different app, when a chat comes in, you get a nice notification in the corner of your screen. All good, you know about it, then can get to it later. Within a minute, you already get a 'Missed conversation' email.
While you can configure Skype to stop sending you email notifications from just about any platform that you have it set up on, you don’t have to go around manually modifying the notification settings everywhere.
Provided that you are using the same Microsoft ID across all instances of Skype, your preferences should sync right over via the cloud. In short, you only have to do this once.
Let’s start with Skype on desktop, and then check out how you can do the same on mobile.
Desktop
On Windows and macOS, you can use the following steps to turn off email notifications immediately. When it comes to Windows in particular, the procedure is also the same on both the Windows Store and the desktop (downloadable) version of Skype.
Note: On Windows, the desktop version of Skype may fail to save your preferences at times. If that is the case, scroll down to the 'Skype for Desktop Issues' section to find out what you can do about that.Step 1: Access the Skype Settings panel. To do that, click the three-dot icon next to your profile picture on the upper-left corner of the Skype window, and then select Settings on the drop-down menu.
Tip: Alternatively, click your profile portrait itself, and then select Settings on the cascading menu.Step 2: Click the option labeled Notifications on the left navigation pane. Next, scroll down the list of notifications till the bottom. It’s then just a matter of turning off the switches next to Missed Call Reminders and Missed Message Reminders.
Of course, you can choose to keep the toggle next to Missed Call Reminders intact if you don't want to miss out on important Skype calls. Kudos to Microsoft for featuring separate notification options for both calls and messages.
Mobile
If you already haven't done it on a desktop, the following steps should help you disable Skype email notifications on Android and iOS.
Step 1: Open the Skype app, and then tap your profile portrait. On the subsequent screen, tap Settings.
Step 2: Tap Notifications, and then use the switches underneath Email Notifications to disable email notifications for either missed calls or missed messages, or both.
Head back, and Skype will save your preferences automatically.
Bonus Tip — Skype Web App
Skype features a dedicated web app that is accessible from any desktop-based web browser (or by requesting the desktop version of the site from a mobile browser). It works similarly to Skype's desktop application and offers the perfect means to disable email notifications from any device regardless of whether you've got Skype installed or not.
Step 1: Sign into the Skype web app using your Microsoft ID.
Sign into Skype Web AppStep 2: Click the three-dot icon next to your profile portrait, and then click Settings.
Step 3: Click Notifications, and then scroll down and turn off the switches under Email Notifications.
Pretty neat, right?

If you are using the desktop version of Skype for Windows (and not the Windows Store version), you may run into an issue where the application fails to save your preferences. That happens when your profile goes corrupt, and you need to force Skype to recreate your profile from scratch if you are to turn off email notifications.
Warning: The following procedure will remove all locally cached data (Skype logs, for example) and your offline profile configuration settings.Step 1: Force-quit Skype via the system tray.
Step 2: Press Windows+R to open the Run box. Next, type %appdata% into the Open field, and then click OK.
Step 3: On the File Explorer window that shows up, open the folder labeled Microsoft.
Step 4: Rename the existing Skype for Desktop folder to Skype for Dekstop_old.
Note: In case of subsequent issues, the 'Skype for Desktop_old' folder acts as a backup of your previous Skype profile settings and other data.Step 5: Relaunch Skype, and then sign back in using your Microsoft ID. You can now modify the Skype notification settings and other preferences without any issues.
